Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls — T Kira Madden. Madden grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, grappling with the dichotomy of living in a privileged community while also being queer and biracial and is confronted with racial disparities.
I need to look more into Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls, could be of interest to me or for me to recommend to others. My next three reads are as usual all over the place. I have just started Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson; it has grabbed me quickly. Next up is a mystery by Nevada Barr, What Rose Forgot. I love her Anna Pigeon Series so thought I give this a go. Also, your recommendation: Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi. Looking forward to reading that one and also hearing your comments.
I've heard really good things about Nevada Barr but have never read before!
And I read the first two chapters of Gingerbread last night and am really loving it. It's one I'm realizing I have to read slowly and savor the words, as it's written very ethereally and lyrically, but it's kind of nice having to slow down. It's starting off a bit more serious than I would have expected, but I'm excited to see where it goes!
