Welcome to the monthly edition of Reading Under the Radar, where paid subscribers get to see what new releases are on my radar that I’m looking forward to reading. There are buy and preorder links (preorders are incredibly helpful for authors) for all books featured.
Weekly Tuesday book recommendations will always be free! The best way to support this newsletter is to become a paid subscriber, but if that isn’t your thing and buying books is, consider sending me a book from my wishlist to review for an upcoming weekly recommendation.

Blackouts by Justin Torres: I’ll be totally honest. I have no idea what this book is about. But seeing its cover, knowing it made the longlist for the National Book Awards, and being published by one of my favorites (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), it immediately went on my list. It is a book about storytelling, and that’s all I need to know! Sometimes it’s fun diving into a book knowing absolutely nothing.
Last to Leave the Room by Caitlin Starling: Is it really October if I don’t include a super weird and dark book on my list? This looks like a dark, parallel-world/doppelganger story that will probably keep me up way too late at night.
