Reprieve — James Han Mattson. One of the most under-the-radar horror books from the last few years, Reprieve, has constantly been on my list of books that need more readers. I first recommended it in August last year and am still singing its praises and am still thinking about that ending.
This book reminds me of that guy who runs an “extreme haunt” where people can go get tortured for a while, basically, for the price of one can of dog food. There’s a new documentary about it on Hulu and it gave me nightmares.
Glad to be a new subscriber. I like literary fiction, eg, North Woods, by Daniel Mason. Historical fiction, eg, The Rose Code. Indigenous experience, eg, anything by Louise Erdrich. The Sentence, by Louise was much deeper than reviewers gave her credit for.
Congrats, Cassie!!!!! You’re a ⭐️⭐️!
Thank you!!!
Hip hip hooray for 2K! ✨

OMG GOING TO WATCH IMMEDIATELY because yes, basically, it is nightmare fuel.

I have still never read anything by Erdrich (despite owning several of her novels!). Have you read Tommy Orange's work? I think you'd like his!
Congratulations Cassie!! 💖 And this book sounds absolutely epic *buys immediately*
