Unraveling — Peggy Orenstein. The early days of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic were spent largely in fear, isolation, and sadness, and many picked up hobbies to cope. Whether it was a new pet, a sourdough obsession, or, for Peggy, making a sweater.
I've always wanted to give knitting a try...maybe this book will finally give me the final kick I need to get into it! I see a lot of knitting videos on Instagram/Tik Tok and it always seems so soothing lol
One of my favorite kinds of of books is one that can make someone a total evangelist about a subject they didn't previously know much about- Unraveling sounds very much like this. Thank you for sharing, I'm excited to look into it!
I've also gotten into Silo! Another semi "too real" show I'm slowly watching is Class of 2009, and I remain a huge fan of Alone - I got into it during the lockdown phase of the pandemic and am riveted by the tenacity and spirit of the contestants - and that they do all of it without even one book to read!
Love the marriage of my two favorite hobbies, reading and knitting! I was already a crocheter but decided to learn knitting during COVID. Have not yet ventured into adult sweaters, but tackled a toddler one a few months ago!
I am currently working on my first sweater! I was never brave enough to venture into it until a year or so ago — I am very slow but so far am enjoying it!

This sounds so fascinating! reminds me the book where the author lived by the Bible for a year, or a year of saying yes.
Yes! Exactly the vibe of those!
Worn sounds like a really good read, in perfect timing with my recent realization I need new clothing. Maybe it'll finally get me into sewing, haha.
Unraveling sounds so fun and like it would be a great palate cleanser!
Totally was! I listened to the audiobook in a day and had a blast!
I haven’t started watching Silo yet - but the book is great!
I had no idea it even was a book until the first episode when it said "based on the book"! It definitely went on my TBR list!
I've read 3 of the books, and I've heard there are 5 now in the series.

You're welcome! I love learning about subjects like that too.

Ooh, I haven't heard of Class of 2009, though as a '10 member, I am extremely intrigued . . .

This sounds like a really fun (and different) summer read!
